Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 4, 2026
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Axxy is an app that coaches your English pronunciation by voice. Axxy Intelligence Inc., a company incorporated in British Columbia, Canada (BC1610735), makes it. In this policy, "Axxy", "we" and "us" mean Axxy Intelligence Inc. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Axxy app and axxy.app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
The short version:
- We collect your email, the details you give us during setup, your voice recordings and your lesson history.
- We use them to coach you. We also use recordings, separated from your account details, to make Axxy more accurate, and you can switch that off.
- We never sell your information and never use it for advertising.
- A few service providers help us run Axxy, such as AI and speech companies. They are listed in section 4.
- You can delete your account and your data at any time.
2. What we collect
| What | Examples | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Your email address and sign-in records | To create your account, send your sign-in codes and keep your account secure |
| Details you give us | The name you want Axxy to call you, your first language, your goal, how many minutes a day you want to practise, and your reminder time | To fit lessons to you and to greet you by name |
| Voice recordings | Audio of you speaking during lessons and exercises | To hear and assess your pronunciation and coach you (see section 3) |
| Lesson activity | Lessons you start, your attempts, transcripts of what you said, pronunciation scores and findings, questions you type, the coach's replies, and when each happened | To coach you, show your progress and continue where you left off |
| Technical information | App version, whether the app runs on a real device, error messages, and timing of each step | To keep Axxy working and fix problems |
| Purchases (once subscriptions launch) | Whether you have an active subscription or trial | To unlock paid features. Apple handles payment; we never see your card details. |
To analyse your sounds, our engine measures acoustic features of your voice, such as pitch and vowel resonance. As part of that analysis it may estimate whether your voice is typically male or female, because that changes how vowels are measured. We use these measurements only for pronunciation feedback. We never use your voice to identify you, and we never create a voiceprint or clone your voice.
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Two features run entirely on your phone and send nothing to us: the detector that notices when you start and stop speaking, and the tracker that follows along as you read. Practice reminders are notifications scheduled on your phone; we don't send them from our servers.
The website axxy.app has no analytics and sets no cookies.
3. Your voice recordings
Your recordings are what makes Axxy work, so here is exactly what happens to them.
- When we record. Axxy records only during a lesson, while it is listening for your turn, and only after you allow microphone access. You can turn microphone access off in your phone's settings at any time, but Axxy can't coach you without it.
- How we analyse them. Our own pronunciation engine, on servers we control, analyses every recording. If the engine can't tell whether you said the expected words, we send that recording to our speech-to-text provider for a transcript.
- Where we keep them. We store your recordings with your lesson history, so you can replay them and Axxy can track your progress. Section 5 says for how long.
- Who can hear them. Only you, and the few members of our team who need to, for example to fix a problem you report. Every team member who can access recordings is bound by confidentiality.
Using recordings to improve Axxy
We may use recordings, transcripts and assessments to test and improve our pronunciation engine and our coaching. Before we do, we separate them from your account: your name, email and account ID are replaced with a random code, and the copies are stored apart from your account. Our team may use AI tools from the providers in section 4 to help analyse these de-identified copies.
A voice can still be recognisable to someone who knows it. That is why we treat de-identified recordings as confidential: we never publish them, sell them, or give them to anyone for their own use.
You can switch this off at any time in Settings, under "Help improve Axxy". After that, your new recordings won't be used to improve Axxy. If you delete your account, we also delete the de-identified copies of your recordings. Models already trained with them are not retrained.
4. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Axxy. Our agreements with them allow them to use it only to provide their services to us.
| Provider | What they do for us | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk (United States) | Sign-in and account security | Your email and sign-in records |
| Convex (United States) | App database | Your setup details and lesson history |
| RunPod (United States) | Cloud servers that run our engine and app | Your recordings and lesson data |
| Cloudflare | Secure network connection between the app and our servers | Data in transit, encrypted |
| OpenAI or Anthropic (United States) | AI models that write the coach's replies | The lesson, the engine's findings, transcripts and questions you type. Never your email or account ID. |
| ElevenLabs (United States) | Speech-to-text when needed, and the coach's voice | Some recordings, and the text of the coach's replies, which may include your first name |
| Apple and RevenueCat (once subscriptions launch) | Payments and subscription status | Your purchase status, never your card details |
| Vercel (United States) | Hosting of the axxy.app website | The basic connection data any website receives, such as your IP address |
Under their business terms, OpenAI and Anthropic do not use the data we send through their APIs to train their models.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the safety and rights of our users or of Axxy, or as part of a merger or sale of the company. If the company is sold, this policy continues to protect your information.
What we never do: we don't sell your personal information, we don't share it for advertising, and we don't work with data brokers.
5. How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Account and setup details | Until you delete your account |
| Recordings and lesson history | Until you delete your account, or 2 years after your last activity, whichever comes first |
| De-identified copies used to improve Axxy | Up to 3 years, and deleted sooner if you delete your account |
| Server logs | Up to 90 days |
| Backups | Up to 30 days after the original is deleted |
| Records the law requires us to keep, such as tax records | As long as the law requires |
When you delete your account in the app, we delete your account, setup details, recordings and lesson history within 30 days. Our service providers keep copies only as long as their agreements with us allow.
6. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- see the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct it;
- delete your account and your data, in the app under Settings, or by writing to us;
- switch off "Help improve Axxy" in Settings;
- withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting what we did before.

European Union, United Kingdom and Switzerland. You also have the right to object to our processing, to restrict it, and to take your data to another service. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
California and other US states. You have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights. We don't sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
7. Where your information is stored
We and our main providers store information in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your information is transferred there, where privacy laws may differ from yours. Where the law requires it, for example from the European Union, we protect these transfers with the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
8. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, sign-in by email code with no passwords to steal, and access limited to team members who need it. No system is completely secure. If a breach puts you at real risk, we will tell you and the regulators as the law requires.
9. Minors
Axxy is only for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us information, write to and we will delete it.
